FAQ

Questions people ask before booking.

Weather, airspace, accuracy, and what a map is and isn’t.

Where do you fly?

Winchester and Frederick, Clarke and Warren counties, northern Virginia, and West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle. Travel within 30 miles of Stephens City is included. Beyond that, travel is $1 per mile.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We don’t fly in high wind, rain or low clouds. If the weather won’t cooperate, we reschedule at no charge.

Can you fly near the airport or in controlled airspace?

Often, yes. We check the airspace for every job and request FAA authorization (LAANC) when the site needs it. A few places can’t be flown at all, and we’ll tell you up front.

Do I need to be there?

Not usually. We need permission to fly the property and a heads-up about gates, livestock or crews. For a Hunt-Ready Map, we walk the ground with you.

How accurate are your maps?

They’re sharp, current and good for measuring distances and areas for planning. We don’t publish accuracy figures or certify measurements. If you need certified measurements, you need a licensed land surveyor.

Is the property line on my map exact?

No. Property outlines are approximate, from county GIS. They’re there to help you see the parcel, not to settle where a line is.

What is a map, and what isn’t it?

Our maps are a current, detailed picture of your property for planning, marketing and visualization. They’re not a legal document, an engineering plan or a property line determination.

Is a roof report a home inspection?

No. It’s documentation of visible conditions, not a home inspection, engineering report or insurance determination. It’s a great way to see what’s up there before you call a roofer or your agent.

How do I get my files?

By download link. Save your copies to your own computer or drive. Links stay active for 60 days.

What file types do I get?

Photos as JPEGs, video as MP4, maps as GeoTIFF, JPEG and KMZ, and 3D models as OBJ, 3D Tiles or GLB, depending on the package.

When is the best time for a hunting or relic map?

Leaf-off, roughly December through March, when the ground shows through the trees. For relic maps, right after plowing is great too.

Do you fly over my neighbors?

We plan flights to stay over your property as much as possible and follow all FAA rules. We don’t photograph neighbors’ homes on purpose.
